The 5 Legendary Ships in Black Flag Resynced are the toughest naval encounters in the game. Each drops 10,000 Reales on defeat — 50,000 Reales total, which covers your Harbourmaster upgrades and then some. But they will destroy an underleveled Jackdaw in seconds. Here's what you need to know.
Minimum Recommended Upgrades
Don't attempt Legendary Ships without:
- Armored Hull: Level 4 minimum, level 5 preferred
- Broadside Cannons: Level 5+
- Round & Heated Shot: Level 4+
- Mortar: Level 3+
- Heavy Shot: Level 2
- Ram: Level 3+
- Full crew capacity and ample mortar ammo
All 5 Legendary Ships
1. La Dama Negra (The Black Lady)
Location: Southwest corner of the map, Serranilla region
Specialty: Devastating mortar attacks
Strategy: Stay close. Her mortars track your position, but they have a minimum range. Hug her broadside and unload with heavy shot. When she pulls away to mortar, chase immediately. Don't try to outrange her — you'll lose.
2. El Impoluto (The Untouchable)
Location: Northwest corner, near Florida
Specialty: High-speed ramming. Fastest ship in the game.
Strategy: Dodge sideways when she charges — never try to outrun her. Her ram deals massive damage but has a long recovery. After each dodge, turn and hit her with broadsides during her recovery window. Chain shot her sails to slow her down. This is widely considered the hardest Legendary Ship.
3. HMS Prince
Location: Northeast corner, near Navassa
Specialty: Heavy broadside barrages
Strategy: Stay at mortar range and soften her up before closing. Her broadsides are devastating but she turns slowly — stay on her stern. Use fire barrels when she pursues you.
4. HMS Fearless & Royal Sovereign (Twin Ships)
Location: Southeast corner, near Chinchorro
Specialty: Tag-team attacks. Two ships at once.
Strategy: Focus one down first. Splitting damage between them doubles the time you're taking fire from two ships. Ram the smaller one (Fearless) to trigger boarding, which gives you invincibility frames during the boarding animation. After one sinks, the other becomes much more manageable.
5. Lovisa
Location: North of Great Inagua, Gibara region
Specialty: Heavy armor and ramming
Strategy: The most straightforward of the five. She's slow but tanky — use mortars to open, then sustained broadsides. Her ram is dangerous but telegraphed. Dodge early.
General Legendary Ship Tips
- Come with full ammo. Stock up at the Harbourmaster before each attempt. Running out of mortar shells mid-fight is a death sentence.
- Repair by boarding. If a Legendary Ship is near death, don't sink it — board it. You get free repairs during the boarding cutscene.
- Save before each fight. The ships don't respawn after defeat, but dying loses progress. Manual save at a nearby port.
- Weather matters. Storms reduce visibility and make Legendary Ships harder to track. Wait for clear weather.
- Order matters. Start with Lovisa (easiest) → HMS Prince → La Dama Negra → Twin Ships → El Impoluto (hardest).
